Button Design

I started a button collection, so that maybe one day I'll start using them on some of my cross stitch projects. I found a small  plain jar I am using to store them in. I wanted a design that I could stitch up easily. I tried designing my own and it didn't seem to work out for me.

I chose an Alphabet I could use on a 1 1/2 inch wide ribbon as shown. It is 16 stitches high, so I chose a alphabet 10 stitches high. My choice was Fancy Alphabet found here Fancy Alphabet
Next steps after stitching. I folded the ends over less than and inch and used Heat and Bond ( you can also sew them) to hold the ends down. Then used fusible fleece as the backing.

After cutting and fusing the fleece to the back. I chose a cord to lace the finished design around the jar. This particular cord was tough to work with trying to get it through the material. I would suggest a smaller cord or making your own out of whatever you choose like ribbon, twisted strand of floss etc.

Finally finished " lacing" the cord through and the finished look is

I hope that this tutorial was helpful. I would enjoy suggestions to make this better. I come up with finishes as I go, some look okay ,some don't and I question myself numerous times.
