Diamond Painting wax/putty/mud review

Hello All,

I hope that you are doing well and staying safe and cool. It's been hot here with temps in the 90's with heat indexs of 102-107. I am hoping it will cool down soon. What's it like where you are?

I've spent the evening diamond painting , working on The Happy House from Free Diamond Painting and working with 4 different wax/putty/mud. I've ranked them 1 - 4 with 1 being my go to wax for diamond painting.

Diamond Painting Waxes/Putty/Mud

Left to Right, Left being #1
#1   is that WAX from MetalHeadsDP

This one has worked the best and longest for me. I would recommend this shop. They have other fragrances as well. I prefer Rustic Forest. Light fragrance with this wax if you like a light fragrance I would go with this one.
#1 Pen is from EnablersOutpost

#2  is a small sample wax from Diamond Art Supply   She sent the sample when I ordered the sparkly dp pen from her. I like the pen as well as the wax ,the pen is light weight and easy on the hands to hold. In my opinion it works just as good as that WAX so I can recommend this shop to anyone who is interested. She sells many fragrant waxes for a decent price. The smell isn't strong either so if you like a light fragrance I would go with this one as well.

#3 was sent as a sample as well when I ordered the Red Fairy and Purple Fairy from Diamond Painting Bliss
This is museum putty and it works good  with no residue however it is hard to load the pen. I had to pinch off a piece and push it in the pen tip. Not a big fan of it but I can say it works, that's just my opinion. Some may like it, some may not. #3 pen is from Enabler's Outpost on Etsy.

And Last is #4 this one reminds me of pink wax but with a fragrance. It lasted about as long as pink wax( that comes in the diamond painting kits) does and is the same consistency and color as the standard pink wax. While it smells good, I really don't think I will purchase any more. Some people really like it and I am not knocking those who do. This my OWN opinion about working with it.
This wax is from Whimsical Daisys and is called Notcher Mama's Mud. I just checked the shop and she doesn't have any listed right now as of this post.
The pen is from Pentastic Painters and is called Black Licorice. I didn't see this exact pen listed but they have listed some really nice halloween pens as well as other colors, so I would recommend going on over and checking the Mother & Daughter team out. They are really sweet ladies.

Until Next Time...

Happy Stitching and may you have smokin' needles...xxx

  1. Interesting pens, it reminds me of so many stitcher's who have certain scissors that they use, some in floral designs, the tools of the trade for whatever craft we are doing are very important.
The home is a lovely color.
    Have a great week.

    1. Thank you. I do agree with having certain items that you use with each craft. I have a pair of scissors I use exclusively with my cross stitch. These pens depending on much work I have to do sometimes I have to use the lighter pens versus the heavier chunky pens when diamond painting especially if I have large coverage areas. I suppose you could compare it to a writer who does large amounts of writing in a few hours. Have a great week :)
