A few crochet projects in the works

Hello All, I hope this finds you doing well. I've been crocheting on some of  a friend's late mother projects that she gave me a couple of weeks ago when I helped her clean up her craft room. I found a few fingerless gloves that she had started and I am trying to finish them up. They were put on hold for a week or 2 so that I could participate in a crochet a long ( CAL) over on youtube.

These 3 ladies are wonderful to watch and I am subscribed to them, they are hosting the CAL.

Spring- The Fiber Enthusiast

Bailey Nuchter Cat on the prowl Creations

Life and Yarn Tangled

Please go check them out, they have lots of tutorials and other things on their channel. I'm sure you'll enjoy them as much as I do.

I found out about the CAL around Oct. 15th and started a rectangle wrap using a pattern that another lady that I am subscribed to talked about in her video, her channel is Bella Uncinetto

This lady also has lots of videos to check out. Please go over and give her channel a look as well.

The pattern for the CAL I chose is the Omna Shawl, mine isn't as long as the one in the pattern, I used Caron Big Cakes in the colorway nightberry and it's 603 yards per cake.

I finished this in about a week maybe going on 2 weeks, I worked on it every evening after work.
They will be showcasing everyone's finishes around the first part of Nov. CAL ends Oct. 31st.
I'm sure they will have others in the future.

Now onto the fingerless gloves. I finished a couple and actually crocheted my own pair in black
They are ribbed crochet fingerless gloves.

I think that's all for now
Until Next Time...
Happy Stitching and May you have smokin' needles...xxx

SHOUT OUT And some yarn news!

                                                                *****FIRST THING*****

Huge shout out to one of my readers! Thank you so much Diamond C! I do appreciate it so very much!! Please go pay Diamond C a visit to her beautiful blog I Love to Stitch

Now onto the Yarn News. So over on facebook I've met with a lady local to me a while back and bought some of her late mothers crochet items. Hooks, some yarn, patterns and such. She's been trying to go thru and sale as many items as she can. Around 3 weeks ago we met up again and I had purchased some yarn from  her and we took some time to talk and she asked me if I could help her go thru her craft room and get it clean and organized and I absolutely said yes and we set up a time & day for me to go over. She and her husband are very down to earth folks. They live in a beautiful 200 year old farm house that is absolutely one of my favorites. I want to learn more about this farm house the next time I go.

I went over there yesterday and worked with her for about 4 hours cleaning and going thru her and her late mother's yarn stash. She had 3 very large totes packed full and other items around the room that she's selling to declutter. We got her down to 2 totes now and she explained that she had more in another room but needs help cleaning it(the room) out and organizing it. She also spins and wants to start spinning again so I'll be going over there again to help her out. This is turning out to be a great friendship, we get along great and we both crochet. She also cans and grows herbs and makes all natural remedies. Among other things.

In exchange for helping her clean up and organize her craft room she gave me a ton of yarn and some partially finished projects of her late mother's which leads me to learn how to make hand/wrist warmers. Now her and her mother are both left handed so their stitches lean opposite of a right hander like me and I am figuring out which stitch she has done on these hand warmers, It's something that I've been wanting to learn how to crochet so this just gave me the little push I needed to start. I'm going to finish the hand warmers that she has started in remembrance. I'll get her name next time, we didn't get that far into the conversation for me to ask her since it's the first time I've been to her place. I'll support her any way I can when she needs me.

This is going to be a picture heavy post as I am making small and medium size tote bags as well for some of the ladies at work. I gave one to 1 of the girls and they have become a big hit there so I'm making more lol I was asked by one of the girls if I could make her a medium size tote bag in the color pink and I absolutely said yes and she ask me what's the charge and quite honestly I hadn't thought of it so said how about the cost of the yarn and we agreed so now she will get the tote I made this week. They take me 2 or 3 evenings to make if I can sit down uninterrupted except for having to get up and move due to my back issues.  enough enough words let's get to the pictures shall we??

these are the small black tote bags

This is the tote bag I was asked to make

and this one is mine I made as a sample piece

Next up are dishcloths and hand/wrist warmers I am trying to finish that I got but first the yarn I was given.
this is a new to me craft from the 1980's It's called Lasetta and it's a type of weaving but on a different cloth/netting. This is a project that was started by the lady's late mother, some of the yarn is missing so I'm going to match the missing to what is there and hope I can finish this. Lasetta Rainbow Afghan by National Yarn Crafts. I can't find any information on this company except for a trademark app that was abandoned in 1990 so I am going to assume that the brand is no longer in business, It's a Division of National Spinning Company.
Pictured below is the yarn that was given to me yesterday. I've got plans for most of it, there's some light weight ( sock yarn) and other light weight yarns that I'm not really fond of but I think I can double it up and make wrist/hand warmers with it

Next up is pictures of all the hand/wrist warmers aka fingerless gloves that she had started.
Dish Cloth she started

This is labeled as Pisgah Yarn and Dyeing Company aka Peaches and Cream, I found this info out as I was trying to research the company.
Pisgah Yarn and Dyeing Company went out of business as of February 25, 2011
The Peaches and Cream website was removed in early 2012
I got a few skeins of this cotton yarn in different colors.

I found 7 total that had been started

This one she had 1 finished and one partially worked on, copied the stitch the best I could since I am right handed and she was left handed and finished the second one up, the black pen shows where the thumb hole is

most of them it looks as if she was using the single crochet stitch so going to try and get them all done.
If you would like a set let me know and we'll work out the details via email. I am learning new ways of doing these as well

I think that's all for now. Thank you so much for visiting with me.

Until Next Time......
Happy Stitching and May you have smokin' needles...xxx

A few crochet projects in the works

Hello All, I hope this finds you doing well. Work is still busy  so hanging in there and here the best I can. I've been finding new projects to work on as well as a few of the WIP(s)

Found a nice simple tote bag using the half double crochet stitch, I'm using  Red Heart Super Saver in Macaw.

Crocheting a smaller tote using CraftSmart Value yarn  in black as well

the strap/handle is single crochet 34 rows

Also learned how to do a spider web, made a small one in purple to see how well I liked it and I have to say, it's easier than it looks following this youtube channel Llama Mama Kayla

Using the same yarn Purple I'm going to make a large blanket size one

I also made 2 cowls

Using the pattern from
Knit and Crochet Ever After
^ this one is using a hand dyed hank of yarn from Crochet in Agreement on Etsy  the yarn is called Be Nice ^

This one is using Caron Cupcake Yarn in Nouget. I don't think I will be using this brand of yarn anymore due to it scratchiness. 100% acrylic. one of the worse ones I have used in a very long time. I'm use to acrylic and most brands are soft and easy to work with. I suffer from dry hands in the fall and winter and this one just did not feel good to work with at all. Thankfully it was the only skein I had. I can find different brands most likely in this colorway but much softer especially for a cowl.

Would you consider buying me a coffee?
